NAT is a big part of connectivity for online multiplier games, deciding how incoming traffic is handled. For gamers, NAR plays a huge role in who you can play with, establishing barriers if it’s not set upright. There are bunches of the reason you may have a strict or even double NAT showing on your network, but with the help of port forwarding, you can easily overcome the hurdles.

So today we will show you how to change nat type on PS4 with port forwarding.

It is not the only method, for many folks just ensuring UPnP enabled on their router will be enough. Check this article, to know more about changing the NAT type on PS4 with router.

How to port forward your PlayStation 4

The ports you need to open up for your PlayStation to get an open NAT are the same, but the actual process may differ from router to router. You may need to dig around your router’s settings to find what you need. s

  1. Open Settings on your PlayStation 4.
  2. Scroll down and select Network.
  3. Select View Connection Status.
  4. Log in to your router’s control settings( if you haven’t done it before, as many might have the information on a sticker).
  5. Locate the Port forwarding rules for your router and using Google WiFi as an example, you find this also under Advanced networking.
  6. Open up the following ports in both directions TCP & UDP.
    • 80
    • 443
    • 3478
    • 3479
    • 3480
  7. UDP 3478, 3479
  8. Once again check your PS4 NAT type and now it should show NAT type 2.
  9. Each game may need an individual PS4 port to be forwarded and we will make a list of those port in the future.

Now give everything a reboot to make sure it’s all kick-started properly and you should see an improvement in your NAT type.
